Many of you will already know that we are talking about Google Optimize, but for those of you who don't know it yet, I'll give you a brief summary of what it is:\nIt is a website optimization tool that helps to improve overall user satisfaction, thanks to the fact that you can perform continuous tests with different aspects of the web. Experiments are created based on the hypotheses that we have previously formulated and we can check which version of the website gets better results. Sounds good, doesn't it? Let's see what we need to put all this in place:\nRequirements:\n\n \tGoogle Analytics account with its respective tracking code implementing on our website.\n \tFor the experiment setup we need to have Google Chrome and its Google Optimize extension installed for this browser.\n \tThe Google Optimize tracking code itself, which we can get directly from the tool once we have created our account.\n\nOnce we meet these simple requirements, we will be ready to start using the tool. These are the next steps we will have to take:\n\n \tGo to optimize.google.com and click Create an account.\n \tEnter an account name and, within the account, name the container in which you will create your first experiment.\n \tAccept the Optimize Terms of Service and click create.\n\nNow it's time to link it to Analytics. To do this:\n\n \tGo to section 3 and click link to property:\n \tSelect the Analytics property that corresponds to the web domain on which you are going to run the experiments or click save.\n\n\nNow let's see what needs to be installed and where for the tool to execute the changes we want to reflect on the website:\n\n \tGo to the Experiments page and locate the Container Info panel, located on the right side of the page.\n \tClick on Install Optimize snippet and then click on the blue button view snippet. That snippet will need to be installed right after the code we have on the Analytics website.\n \tIt is also recommended to implement the anti-flicker snippet, which will temporarily hide the page while the Optimize container is loading. This code will be installed just before the Analytics code.\n\nEt voil\u00e0, we have everything ready to start setting up our experiment. There are 4 types of experiments:\n\n \tA\/B test: We show users two or more variants of the same page.\n \tMultivariate: This type of test consists of showing the user different variants of two or more sections on the same page.\n \tRedirect test: This option is used to test independent web pages, which are identified by different urls or paths. As a reminder, we must introduce a \"noindex\" tag to the test page.\n \tCustomization: Allows you to customize the page for the targeted visitors.\n\nOnce we have decided which option best suits the changes we want to make, we can start shaping our hypothesis:\n\n \tWe access the interface of our experiment and click on add variant. Optimize distributes the traffic to 50% between the two alternatives, although we can modify it.\n \tWe click on edit and the website referenced above will be opened to make the changes we consider appropriate.\n \tThe editor interface is very easy to use and very intuitive, we can try to make simple changes like this one:\n\n\n\n \tIn the Segmentation section we will be able to decide to whom and when we are going to show the variant we have just created.\n \tIn order to launch our experiment, we will choose one of the objectives that we have configured in Analytics, through which we want to measure the results of our variant.\n\n\nAnd that's it! Now we just have to let both versions collect data and, when we have enough information, we can decide whether our initial hypothesis was true or not and whether it is worth making the changes permanently on our website.\nWe hope you found this post interesting!
