But when we want to send a newsletter to our customers, these filters often become an obstacle, as they sometimes incorrectly mark our newsletter as spam. Unfortunately, there are no magic formulas to avoid this (since each filter has its own configuration), but here are 7 tips to at least minimize the problem.\n\n\n\nObviously these tips work much better (and even automatically) with the help of an e-mail marketing system. At Geotelecom we are using the E-goi platform. We like it because it is very complete, it has advanced features that will improve our open rate and, above all, it has support in Spanish, which is something to be grateful for nowadays.\n\n\n\n1) Do not send messages to subscribed customers.\n\n\n\nThis is the first reason for your e-mails not to end up in the spam folder. Keep in mind that the fact that they are your own customers or contacts does not imply that they have given you their explicit authorization to receive your newsletter. If you set out to send without permission, there is a good chance that they will hit the \"spam\" button. And, what is worse, when this happens the ISPs (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) can block your newsletter for the rest of the users.\n\n\n\nDisaster can strike in the form of your domain being blacklisted! For this reason, you should make sure that your website has a newsletter opt-in form. You can also create opt-in forms or other media for customers in your business or physical store clearly informing them that it is to receive your newsletter.\n\n\n\n2) Send interesting content to your customers\n\n\n\nIn the same way that when you send a newsletter to those who requested to receive them, ISPs are always attentive to the interest that their communications generate in people. If recipients do not open or click on a newsletter, ISPs may filter it as spam in future mailings. This is called \"engagement\" and it is one of the most important statistics in your e-mail marketing process! So try to create content that is really interesting and useful to encourage them to open and click on your content. Platforms like E-goi are great for measuring results.\n\n\n\n3) Clean and update your subscriber list\n\n\n\nWhen you want to send your newsletter for deactivated or invalid e-mails (a typical behavior of spammers) ISPs can penalize and block your next mailings. For this reason, it is essential to delete all the addresses that are no longer valid (usually called rejects). If you don't want to delete them by hand, email marketing platforms such as E-goi automatically clean up soft and hard rejects and insert a link for people to click on if they want to be removed from the list. As a rule, the cleaner your list is, the more suitable and correct it will be for ISPs and the better the delivery rate in the inbox.\n\n\n\n4) Don't send content that could be mistaken for spam.\n\n\n\nBefore sending the newsletter, confirm that it will not trigger spam filters! Although each filter has its own rules, you can follow some general rules.\n\n\n\nDo not send emails composed only of images (the ideal is a balance between HTML text and images) Use well-formatted HTML codes (i.e. do not generate the HTML of the newsletter with Word or Photoshop) Prepare an alternative version of the email in plain text.\n\n\n\nTo verify all this, you can use E-goi's anti-spam report which, besides automatically creating a plain text version, will analyze all the content and offer you a score and tips to improve the results.\n\n\n\n5) Certify email senders and servers\n\n\n\nOne of the things that ISPs are most attentive to is the reputation of the server through which you send your newsletters. To have a good reputation, it is essential to authenticate your server with the main e-mail servers (SPF, SenderID, DKIM and DomainKeys). This process should be done by your server's technical manager. If you choose to use an e-mail marketing service such as the aforementioned E-goi, the task will be easier since it includes certified servers as well as the necessary instructions to configure the servers correctly.\n\n\n\n6) Be careful with the frequency of mailings\n\n\n\nEven if people want to receive your newsletter, it is possible that it is excessive to receive one every day (for example), so the risk of being marked as spam is very high. On the other hand, if you send out infrequently (e.g. monthly), you can achieve the opposite effect, that they are forgotten and may be considered spam. Do you have a daily newsletter? Offer the possibility of receiving them less frequently. Do you send them sporadically? Include a reference reminding the reason why they receive your e-mail and the date on which they subscribed to your newsletter (platforms such as E-goi can insert an option in the sending frequency where the reason and the date of registration are indicated).\n\n\n\n7) Ask your subscribers to add your sender to their safe senders list.\n\n\n\nBecause even if you follow all these tips, there is always the possibility that some overly aggressive filters will send your newsletter to spam. To solve this, you can add a sentence in the e-mail (e.g. at the top) asking them to add your sender to their safe address list]]>]].<\/p>","protected":false},"author":42,"featured_media":15840,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":"","_seopress_robots_follow":"","_seopress_robots_imageindex":"","_seopress_robots_snippet":"","_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_robots_breadcrumbs":"","_seopress_robots_freeze_modified_date":"","_seopress_robots_custom_modified_date":"","_seopress_robots_canonical":"","_seopress_social_fb_title":"","_seopress_social_fb_desc":"","_seopress_social_fb_img":"","_seopress_social_fb_img_attachment_id":0,"_seopress_social_fb_img_width":0,"_seopress_social_fb_img_height":0,"_seopress_social_twitter_title":"","_seopress_social_twitter_desc":"","_seopress_social_twitter_img":"","_seopress_social_twitter_img_attachment_id":0,"_seopress_social_twitter_img_width":0,"_seopress_social_twitter_img_height":0,"_seopress_redirections_value":"","_seopress_redirections_enabled":"","_seopress_redirections_enabled_regex":"","_seopress_redirections_logged_status":"","_seopress_redirections_param":"","_seopress_redirections_type":0,"_seopress_analysis_target_kw":"","footnotes":"","_members_access_role":[],"_members_access_error":""},"categories":[22],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-15837","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-marketing-online"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/15837","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/42"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=15837"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/15837\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":232220,"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/15837\/revisions\/232220"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/15840"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=15837"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=15837"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.geotelecom.mx\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=15837"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
