Recently, Google has launched a program to measure the quality of the experience that an eCommerce offers to its customers. The goal of this program is to reward those advertisers who offer an optimal shopping experience. In this way, they can get a better positioning in the search results of the Shopping tab and a badge on their product cards that increases the confidence of users.
All Merchant Center advertisers are eligible to participate in this program to receive these benefits and their performance will be compared to that of other merchants for proper evaluation.
How does it work?
This program takes into account the experience that the advertiser offers in the following categories, scoring them with an "excellent", "improvable" or "similar":
- Delivery time.
- Shipping costs.
- Return costs.
- Repayment period.
To improve the visibility of the product sheets in Shopping, it is sufficient to include information only in some of the above categories. However, to get the badge, it is necessary to submit information in all the areas described above.
This information provided by the advertiser will be evaluated by Google on a daily basis. However, if a category has been rated for a certain period of time, it may take a few weeks for improvements to be displayed in Google's evaluation, as there is a fixed display period to ensure that performance is maintained.
Where can this information be consulted?
It is as simple as opening our Merchant Center panel and selecting the option of Growth in the left navigation menu. Once there, select Shopping experience scorecard. Here we will be able to see a table with the information we have and its qualification, as well as to check in which fields we are missing data to fill in.
We also have a recommendations section that indicates the actions to be taken to improve the corresponding metrics.
However, do not panic, there will be no penalty from Google if we do not meet certain standards in the main metrics or if we do not provide information in all the categories indicated.
And you, are you going to participate in the shopping experience evaluation program?
